History of the tournaments

The Gazprom Neft Cup games were held for the first time in 2007.  The tournament met its organizers’ most optimistic expectations, and each year the tournament’s level of execution and the geographical range of its participants have grown.  Over eight years, the project went from being a regional competition to becoming a large-scale youth hockey tournament.  Today, it is the biggest youth hockey tournament in Europe.  It is held in two towns and follows the same division model that all of the world’s largest ice hockey leagues have.

In various years, Gazprom Neft Cup winners included young ice hockey players from Tyumen, Omsk, Saint Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Kazan, and Moscow.
