Coverage of the 8th Gazprom Neft Cup KHL Youth Ice Hockey Tournament by KHL TV will set new standards, reflecting the much larger geography and list of participants this year compared with previous years. Matches will be held concurrently in two cities (Omsk and Minsk) and there will be 24 teams taking part, including several from Europe, so audience interest will be greater than earlier.
The expanded broadcasting package offered by KHL Channel will meet standards of coverage for international adult tournaments. The spectacular opening ceremonies and first matches in Minsk and Omsk will be shown live, as well as the West Group final at the Chizhovka-Arena ice-palace in Minsk and the super-final at the Omsk Arena, followed by the Gazprom Neft Cup award ceremony. Top commentators and youth ice hockey experts will provide commentary as part of the life broadcasts.
The Channel will offer special programmes on a daily basis, including a Tournament diary, match highlights, comments and views of KHL stars and leading ice hockey experts, all in HD format with the best picture quality. Quality of Tournament coverage this year will meet the expectations of its most devoted fans.
“Matches in the Gazprom Neft Cup have nothing to envy of adult tournaments in terms of atmosphere and emotional charge,” said the head of KHL TV, Pavel Kidisyuk. “These young hockey players already have a keen will to win, and that is what makes their play so compelling. Our coverage will bring them the support of many thousands of television viewers in addition to that of parents and friends.”
