Vityaz, a club from Moscow Region, will be among competitors in the 8th Gazprom Neft Cup Children’s Ice-hockey Tournament. The Vityaz team will join the Tournament’s West Group, playing in the Belarus capital, Minsk.
The Czech team, Lev Praha, made a preliminary application to take part in the 2014 Tournament. But this new KHL club was only set up in Prague in 2012 and does not yet have its own self-sufficient hockey school. Despite best efforts, the club couldn’t put together a team of boys born in 2003 and had to withdraw from the Tournament.
The Organizing Committee chose the Moscow Region club, Vityaz, from several candidates to take the place of the Czech team in this year Tournament. Vityaz Hockey Club was founded in 1996 and established itself as one of the most outstanding and original participants of the Continental Hockey League. Most importantly, the towns of Chekhov and Podolsk in Moscow Region have successfully formed junior ice-hockey schools, which have made many appearances in national competitions in all age groups.
We wish the young players from Vityaz the very best of luck for their debut appearance in the Gazprom Neft Cup!
