The president of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sent welcoming greeting to the participants in the 8th International Gazprom Neft Cup Youth Ice Hockey Tournament. The message from the head of state at the opening ceremony of the tournament was read out by the presidential assistant for physical culture, sport, and the development of tourism, Maxim Ryzhenkov.
“Holding this youth tournament is another part of the world ice hockey championships events. We are proud that in our country young people have all the opportunities to realize their own abilities and talents. Sport is a fundamental part of raising the men of the next generation, a real school of physical competition and endurance. I am sure that these precocious hockey players, achieving their first victories in these competitions, will go on to the highest accomplishments. I wish all the tournament participants bravery, luck, confidence in their own strength, and success in their future athletic careers. I welcome everyone to this festival of youth and hockey,” he said in his message.
