Young hockey players of all 24 teams participating in the Eighth Gazprom Neft Cup as well as Tournament partners received mementos from the organizers: unique photo albums and video films devoted to the biggest children’s ice-hockey competition in Europe. July is the off-season for hockey, so all the boys are now on vacation. They recall everything that happened to them just over two months ago with pleasure and in detail.
We heard the reactions of some of the young players to receiving their gift packages. The boys of SKA-2003 played in the West Group opening game of the Cup, which gathered about 5,000 fans on the stands of the Chizhovka Arena in Minsk. The photos and films let them re-experience the ups and downs of the competition and relive that sports festival atmosphere in the Belarus capital.
Ilya Solnyshkin, a forward with SKA-2003, was the first in his team to open his personal gift package. The forward was sincere with his emotions:
“The photos are brilliant and really colourful! Just super! I can’t wait to show it to my friends and family. It has everything I remember from the Tournament. I liked the film even more. It’s over two months since we fought for the Cup, but after watching the video, with the best moments for SKA and our opponents, it seems like it all happened yesterday. It was a huge privilege and responsibility for all the boys from my team to play at such a prestigious tournament. The training arrangements, accommodation, refereeing — everything was top class, efficient, and fair!”
“The quality of the Gazprom Neft Cup Tournament is unmistakable,” says the SKA-2003 coach Evgeny Andreyev. “The organization of the opening and closing ceremonies was as good as at the World Championships: a big crowd, light and laser shows and performances by entertainers. I think we could have achieved more on the ice, but we learnt lessons for the future. It will be great if such tournaments can be held as often as possible!”
