The group stage draw of the 9th Gazprom Neft Cup KHL Kids Hockey Tournament completed

Today, St. Petersburg hosted the meeting of the organizing committee of the 9th Gazprom Neft Cup KHL Kids Hockey Tournament. The meeting attendees considered and approved the tournament organization plans, in particular the issues of accommodation and meals for the participants, advertising and information campaigns in Omsk and St Petersburg, as well as excursion programs for the teams.

The main outcome of the Organizing Committee’s meeting was the participating teams draw. According to the tournament rules, the teams were divided into baskets taking into account their current ratings and performance in previous tournaments.

The teams taking the first and the second places in their groups will fight for the ticket to the Super Final.

“We will see spectacular games even during the group stage. In the opening game of the West Group, CSKA and SKA will compete, and Avangard will face Ak Bars in the East Group. These two struggles have become usual for the regular KHL seasons and playoffs and always kindle great interest in fans. I think that the children’s games will catch the importance of the fight between the traditional rivals. I also want to note that although the first places in the groups have been given to the strongest teams, nobody will be able to score any point in the Gazprom Neft Cup hands down”, said Alexander Dybal, member of the Gazprom Neft Management Board and chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee.
