The final game in the West Group has finished up in the St Petersburg Ice Palace. In a pitched battle, Dynamo (Moscow) beat Vityaz from the Moscow Region, with a score of 3:1.
Mikhail Vasilevsky’s charges showed their class almost immediately — the first period ended with a score of 2:0 to the white-and-blues. Further, Dynamo just strived not to lose their advantage — they played grown-up hockey, they didn’t leave their opponent room to manoeuvre, and they made a bare minimum of errors.
The second period didn’t change the score, and in the third, the Dynamo team first increased their lead to three goals, and then in the last minute (!) lost the chance of a shut-out, as Vityaz scored one honour goal.
Dynamo (Moscow) are in the Gazprom Neft Cup for the second year. In 2014 in Minsk they made it to the final of the West Group, where they lost to CSKA.
In the game for bronze in the West Group, CSKA beat Lokomotiv (Yaroslavl) with a score of 2:1. Ordinary time for this game, held in the Yubileyny Sports Palace, ended in a draw. In a penalty shoot-out the “army” team were stronger.
