The Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation is continuing its partnership with the largest Under-11 children’s ice hockey tournament in Europe — the Gazprom Neft Cup!

As part of the 10th anniversary tournament, the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation is again organising seminars for children’s coaches, bringing in famous masters from the world of coaching. Even coaches of children’s teams who are not taking part in this competition will be coming to listen to the highest-level specialists. In 2015, the parents of the young athletes expressed real interest in the lectures by specialists from the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health (St Petersburg) on the psychological elements of raising young champions. These lectures have become a beloved tradition of the Gazprom Neft Cup which will continue in 2016. And the foundation hasn’t forgotten about the young players themselves — the teams taking prize positions in their groups will win exercise machines.

“This is the second year in a row that the Timchenko Foundation is organising educational seminars for coaches of children’s teams and for players’ parents as part of the Gazprom Neft Cup. For successful preparation of young hockey players it is essential to remember not only about the psychological but also the social elements of the educational process, which involves both the athletes and the coaches and players’ parents,” added Igor Baradachev, deputy director general of the Timchenko Foundation. “We are glad that the Timchenko Charitable Foundation is acting as a Gazprom Neft Cup partner”.

Each year the tournament is expanding the areas of participation, and the involvement of leading schools of children’s ice hockey is increasing. But the educational mission is just as important, allowing the expansion of children’s hockey in the regions of the participating clubs, attracting the attention of the specialists from the coaching networks, and helping raise future champions," said Anna Kazarina, executive director of the Gazprom Neft Cup organising committee.
