For the recent two years the number of the supporters for construction of the social and business district "Okhta center" in Saint-Petersburg has increased from 33 to 45%.16.03.2009Such research findings, gained by the Social information agency (SIA), were revealed by Alexander Smirnov, the SIA Marketing and PR director, at the press conference, held in agency "Interfax Severo-Zapad" on March 12, 2009.
According to the pull data the number of supporters has trailed a little to opponents thereof in December 2006: 33% versus 35%. A sharp turnaround in positive attitude occurred by the summer 2008 - up to 45%, the number of opponents was cut down to 33,8%.
"Following the results of 2008 it can be stated that the share of project adherents has stayed at the mark of 45%, the part of opponents has not been practically reduced and amounted 32,3%", A.Smirnov explained.
Speaking about positive aspects, respondents have designated expansion in the number of individual working places (45%), district improvement (22%), investment inflow to the city (38%).
Roman Mogilevskiy, the chief of SIA, has assumed in his turn that consequences of the financial and economic collapse may result in raising city residents' sympathies to "Okhta center".
"I reckon that the situation will be changed to the advantage of the construction procedure. And this will be caused by the crisis aggravation", R. Mogilevskiy said and underlined that the complex construction would be associated by city residents with the possibility to earn income both to the city and themselves.
