The Okhta Centre Project Concept Reviewed by Social Council21.05.2007A concept of the community and business complex Okhta Centre was presented by experts of the architectural company RMJM at the enlarged session of the Presidium of the Social Council held in St.Petersburg on May 18, 2007. The Council meeting held at the offices of JSC Gazprom Neft was attended by St.Petersburg Vice-Governors Victor Lobko and Alexandr Vakhmistrov, Chairwoman of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks Vera Dementieva and Chairman of the Committee for City Planning and Architecture Alexandr Victorov.
The agenda included also discussions on the new project finance arrangements and familiarization with the results of landscape visualization studies performed by RMJM and the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks.
At the meeting the project chief architect Filipp Nikandrov and executive director of RMJM Tony Kettle answered the questions about peculiarities of design development of a high-rise building, social functions of the community and business complex and the history-related component of the project. During the event council members pointed out the benefits connected with the arrival of largest taxpayers to the city and expressed their hope that the first community and business complex project will be in harmony with the spirit of St.Petersburg and its historical and cultural values.
