The Okhta Centre Design Concept Presented to the Council for Preservation of Cultural Heritage of St.Petersburg07.06.2007Today, members of the Council for Preservation of Cultural Heritage functioning under the auspices of the Government of St.Petersburg have familiarized themselves at the Gazprom Neft offices in St.Petersburg with the revised architectural concept of the community and business complex Okhta Centre. The presentation was attended by chairwoman of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks Vera Dementjeva, members of the Council as well as by vice-president of JSC Gazprom Neft Alexander Dybal and general director of CJSC Gazprom Neft-Invest Nikolai Tanayev.
The project’s chief architect and director of the RMJM architectural company’s representative office in Russia Filipp Nikandrov told the deputies about the changes introduced into the community and business complex’s concept. The revised concept features considerably expanded social functions of the project.
During the presentation questions were asked about the value of the project, members of the creative team at the company RMJM and about the location of the community and business complex Okhta Centre.
The Council for Preservation of Cultural Heritage under the Government of St.Petersburg took note of the information delivered at the presentation. Summarizing the presentation chairwoman of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks Vera Dementjeva said, ”I am grateful to Council members for their taking the concept presented with due respect”.
It may be recalled that earlier the Okhta Centre revised concept had been presented to the members of the Commission for Examination and Implementation of Strategic Projects in St.Petersburg, St.Petersburg Social Council, representatives of the city’s architectural community, deputies of the Legislative Assembly and representatives of mass media. A revised concept will be shortly presented to the City Planning Council of St.Petersburg.
