UNESCO Requested by the Okhta Centre Investors To Give Its Official View20.07.2007The Okhta Centre project investors requested the UNESCO’s specialized divisions to present their official position in respect of construction of the community and business complex in St.Petersburg.
According to vice-president of JSC Gazprom Neft Alexandr Dybal the UNESCO officials were familiarized with the architectural concept of the project during their visit to St.Petersburg last February.
”In April the results of the visual study of the Okhta Centre high-rise’s potential impact on the city’s historical landscape were already passed on to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. We appreciate the interest shown by UNESCO in the project and are convinced that cooperation with this international organization during all stages of the project implementation will be productive and useful”, said Alexander Dybal.
According to the Gazprom Neft vice-president a primary objective of the project investors is participation in urban renovation along with careful attitude towards the city’s uniqueness. “Considering specific features of St.Petersburg the latter aspect is given special consideration”, he pointed out.
