Gazprom Neft plays a significant role in developing local infrastructure as a major taxpayer and employer in the regions where it operates. The company’s social investment program, Hometowns, develops local cities and social infrastructures. Major projects in 2012 included opening the Avangard Hockey Academy in Omsk and the Zenit sports complex in Noyabrsk.

Gazprom Neft recognizes that it has a responsibility to protect the environment and strives to constantly improve its industrial, environmental, and occupational safety performance. Around RUB 3.4 billion was spent on improving environmental safety in 2012.
Gazprom Neft also recognizes the value in staff satisfaction, and offers its employees a broad range of professional development opportunities. In 2012, the company invested RUB 249.3 million in training, and 80% of Gazprom Neft employees were put through various educational programs.
