Company policy in industrial, fire, transport, ecological, workplace and public safety (“Policy”) has been developed in line with the requirements of Russian legislation and Russian National Standards GOST R ISO
The Policy makes up a fundamental document based on the principles of the effective management of industrial, environmental, workplace and public safety.
Pursuant to the requirements established by the Policy, a range of internal regulatory documents governing environmental safety have been developed, reflecting the basis for compliance with legislative and internal regulation directed at environmental protection and rehabilitation.
Internal company regulation outlines processes governing the management of environment-related activities and risks; contractor management; control, monitoring and audit functions; the conduct of environmental assessments and design; and more.
In addition to this, the company has in place an approved standard governing procedures in handling public enquiries from both legal entities and individuals, pursuant to which all enquiries are logged on the day of receipt and forwarded to the relevant department for a response to be prepared and, where necessary, action taken. Contact details for the submission of written or telephone enquiries are given on the company’s website.
Every year the company runs training for managers at subsidiary companies, as well as specialists whose work does or could impact the environment, with approximately 11,500 employees and management undergoing training in 2014.
Environmental assessments are integral to the planning of all activities at Gazprom Neft, with all factors involved in oil and gas production, and their potential impact on local ecosystems, taken into account. Natural resources management in the regions is handled in accordance with plants’ growing seasons, with fish spawning seasons, and in accordance with animal and herd migrations.
In 2016 Gazprom Neft reaffirmed its compliance with the ISO 14001 international standards governing ecological and environmental management, with the award of these certificates confirming the compliance of Gazprom Neft’s internal management system with international best practice in environmental protection. Improvements to its environmental management system have seen Gazprom Neft make a gradual transition from implementing corrective initiatives to a system involving environmental risk assessment and the implementation of preventative measures against potential environmental impacts from industrial activities.
Prioritising environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources is fundamental to Gazprom Neft’s operations: a principle equally applicable to all subsidiaries, regardless of business activity. An integrated environmental management system allows company enterprises to adhere to this principle in conducting activities in any area of the business.
