Programmes for children and young people

Gazprom Neft sponsors kindergartens, schools and boarding schools in the regions where the Company has a presence.

The Company particularly focuses on the support of sports for children and young people as an investment in future generations. The Annual Inter-regional Children’s Ice Hockey Tournament for the Gazprom Neft Cup is a perfect example of this approach. The first tournament was held in Omsk in 2007 and supported by the government of the Omsk Region. More than one hundred children from Tyumen, Omsk, Tomsk, Noyabrsk, Salekhard, and Khanty-Mansiysk took part in the tournament. It’s sponsors aimed to engage as many young people as possible in sports, enhancing the popularity of ice hockey, and preparing the teams for All-Russia competitions.

In 2008-2010, ice hockey tournaments were held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Salekhard, and Omsk, and welcomed more than 400 participants from different regions of Russia. In 2010, Gazprom Neft and the Continental Hockey League (KHL) signed a cooperation agreement recognising the Annual Inter-regional Children’s Ice Hockey Tournament as an official KHL tournament.

Gazprom Neft also contributes to the creation of sports infrastructure in the regions. This includes, in 2010, the opening ceremonies of the Chess Academy in Khanty-Mansiysk (KhMAO), Zenit Sports and Fitness Centre in the village of Purpa in Purovsky District, and the multifunctional gymnasium Zenit in Muravlenko (YNAO). Other projects in progress include the construction of sports and fitness complexes in Noyabrsk and Tarko-Sale (YNAO).
