Employee Development and Support Programmes

Gazprom Neft views its employees as its main asset. The Company pays its employees competitive salaries and wages, and offering career opportunities and a proper working environment.

As a result of expansion, between 2007 and 2010, the number of Gazprom Neft employees grew to about 65,000 people. Gazprom Neft employs people in more than 20 regions across Russia, as well as in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Belarus, Serbia, Italy, Austria, Iraq and Venezuela. About one third of Gazprom Neft's employees work in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, 13 percent of employees work in Omsk and Omsk Region, and 14 percent work in central Moscow and surrounds.

Personnel costs in 2010 increased by 44.2 percent as compared to 2009, making up 40.6 bln roubles. The average salary grew by 13.3 percent to 50,095 roubles.

Employee Distribution in 2010

Employee benefits include voluntary medical insurance, free meals, anniversary bonuses, material aid, leave allowance, payment of travel tickets, additional childcare allowance, occasion gifts to employees and their families, and accident insurance. In 2010, social payments amounted to 29,000 roubles per employee.

Gazprom Neft holds regular open dialogue with worker trade unions to address social issues. Trade unions operate at the largest Gazprom Neft divisions, including Noyabrskneftegaz and the Omsk Refinery, as well as at all service and sales subsidiaries. More than 68 percent of the Company’s employees are members of trade unions.


Recruitment of Young Professionals and Staff Development

Gazprom Neft strives to become an industry leader in efficiency and is always interested in attracting new talent. Support for young professionals, skill pools, and a continuous comprehensive training system for all staff categories and management levels are the key areas of personnel development.

The Company continues to search for young talent in schools. In 2008, the Company opened several “Gazprom Neft Classes” in Noyabrsk to provide career-oriented guidance for school children who aim to go on to enter university education and who may wish to one day work for Gazprom Neft.

Gazprom Neft works in close partnership with leading Russian institutions of higher education, including G.V.Plekhanov St. Petersburg State Mining Institute, I.M.Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Moscow Geological Survey College.

In 2010, Gazprom Neft’s received the award for ‘Largest Youth Employer’ and ‘Largest Higher Education Investor’ from the Russian Rector’s Union which recognises business partnering with Russian higher education institutions. In 2010, Gazprom Neft recruited 309 young professionals including graduates of Tyumen State University of Oil and Gas, Ufa State University of Oil and Gas, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Omsk Technical University, and other higher education institutions.

Gazprom Neft invests in the professional development of its employees. In 2010, Gazprom Neft provided training for a total of 1,461 employees. The Company spent 106.5 mln roubles on employee training and development.

Training programmes consist of three main areas:

  • Professional training, designed to improve knowledge and skills for particular positions and functions;
  • Corporate management competence development;
  • Business awareness development.

The Company supports employee sport competitions including Gazprom Neft’s boxing championship, its football tournament for the Oil Refinery teams, and its annual winter and summer Olympics are the major milestones in the Company's corporate sports life. The Olympic Programmes features competitions in football, hockey, volleyball, streetball, table tennis, kettlebell lifting, swimming, track and field athletics, chess, and ski races.


Support for Retired Employees

The Company offers financial assistance to retired employees, organises cultural and entertainment events, and endeavours to honour its former employees.

The Fakel club in Omsk brings together almost 4,000 retired employees who have worked at the Omsk refinery for more than 15 years. The Omsk refinery provides extra payments on top of Company pensions to retired employees, and also provides free medical services and facilities for club meetings. In July 2010, to celebrate "Vigour and Health", 370 former employees took part in organised competitions.
