G-Drive Racing finishes second in opening round of Blancpain Sprint Series

On 21 April, the first round of the Blancpain Sprint Series (previously known as the FIA GT Sprint) was held at the Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro. The round comprised a qualifying lap and two races, each lasting one hour.

G-Drive Racing, sponsored by the G-Drive premium fuel brand, is taking part in the series for the first time. The team made an impressive start to the season, finishing in second place: less than two seconds behind the winning German team.

“This year, the development of our motor racing project has been stepped up a level. We are now working in partnership with Audi Russia for the Blancpain Sprint Series — sprint racing being a new area for us — in which the G-Drive Racing team are driving Audi R8 vehicles. I am certain that 2014 will be even more successful for G-Drive Racing”, commented Gazprom Neft Regional Sales Director and Project Manager for G-Drive Racing Alexander Krylov.

The Russian team will be taking part in all stages of the Blancpain Sprint Series, which will be held in the UK, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Portugal, and Belgium, before concluding in Baku, Azerbaijan in November.
