Gazprom Neft Press Office:
Gazprom Neft has sponsored the fourth “Management of the Future ‘15” student conference, organised by the Graduate School of Management, St Petersburg State University. The company is now an official sponsor of this initiative and, as well as participating in the job fair, also held a business game for students, following which a number of students will be selected to undertake internships at Gazprom Neft.
The “Management of the Future” conference is an annual event, initiated and managed by students, with the support of administrators at the Graduate School of Management. The aim of the project is to create a platform for interaction between leading Russian companies and talented students.
“Business games” provide a new, interactive format, widely used by Gazprom Neft as part of a wider programme in working with students and young professionals.
Engineering and technical classes are being made available, through sponsorship from Gazprom Neft, throughout key regions in which the company operates. Cooperation on this basis allows school leavers to access in-depth training in the subjects they will need to become specialists in the oil and gas industry. Graduates of these specialist classes continue their education at higher educational establishments partnering with the company. More than 70 high school students studied with Gazprom Neft on this basis in 2014. The first “Gazprom Neft class” will open in St Petersburg in 2015.
Two key faculties have also been established with the support of Gazprom Neft at higher educational establishments in regions in which the company operates. Every year more than 500 students undergo practical training at enterprises throughout Gazprom Neft. April 2015 will see the start of selection processes at the Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University for a two-year master’s programme on “Mathematical Modelling in Oil and Gas Production”, to be held at the new Gazpromneft-Polytech science and education complex.
One outstanding example of the company’s work in engaging talented young people was the first “Oil and Gas Moot Competition”, held by Gazprom Neft in 2014. Bringing together more than 5,200 participants, its format, geographic range and sheer number of participants made this a unique event in the Russian oil industry.
Gazprom Neft has already been working closely with St Petersburg State University for a number of years. Since 2013 the company has supported the work of the Chebyshev research laboratory, and has financed master’s degrees in subsoil use regulation since 2014.
