Gazprom Neft is again general partner to the Federal Oil and Gas IT Forum, which is this year focussed on the implementation of “Industry 4” — cutting-edge concepts in the so-called “fourth industrial revolution” which will, according to most experts, see oil and gas companies entering a whole new technological level in the way they organise production and generally manage their businesses.
Participants also examined the use of technology in working with big data, and in converting this into digital assets, the role of IT in improving business efficiency, and the creation of cohesive network-centricity from the “digital oilfield” to the “digital factory”, as well as industrial automation and telecommunications in the oil and gas industry.
The IT Forum this year has acquired the status of an international event, attracting more than 400 delegates from Russia, India, China and the UAE. Participants included senior IT managers from Russia’s leading oil and gas and oil services companies and their subsidiaries, as well as representatives from government agencies and departments, technology hubs, institutions and foundations, solution providers and vendors.
Vitaly Baranov, Deputy CEO for Administration, Gazprom Neft, commented: “We have been discussing current issues in IT for several years — looking for the best information technologies, and managing communications between industry players and solution providers. Today, at the IT Forum of the Russian Oil and Gas Industry, we are talking about the future. And this is a completely different approach. We want make sure we are in the leading position in terms of IT and, independently, determining ways forward in developing the business — which will, to no small extent, promote the coming together of major oil and gas companies and IT market participants through specialist industry events.”
