Gazprom Neft has entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the United Shipbuilding Corporation, with Andrey Patrushev, Deputy CEO for Offshore Development, Gazprom Neft, and Alexei Rakhmanov , President, USC, signing the document at this year’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The agreement envisages both companies combining forces in developing domestic technologies and equipment for opening up offshore fields on Russia’s continental shelf and, in particular, developing multi-purpose supply vessels, drilling platforms and underwater complexes for oil production.
Under the terms of the Agreement USC plans to undertake investigations and develop technical equipment documentation in line with Gazprom Neft’s requirements in developing offshore projects. Gazprom Neft, for its part, will support the pilot testing of equipment prototypes, including at its own offshore licence blocks on Russia’s continental shelf, as well as examining possibilities for utilising new technologies, in the future.
The Agreement also envisages both parties organising a system for collecting, summarising and sharing information and data, reference materials, methodological recommendations, and research data on specific projects, as well as conducting joint negotiations, consultations, business meetings and other discussions as necessary in developing and producing cutting-edge offshore equipment.
Andrey Patrushev, Deputy CEO for Offshore Development, Gazprom Neft, commented: “Gazprom Neft is currently the only company engaged in commercial production on the Russian Arctic Shelf. We are also continuing geological prospecting works on licence blocks in the north of the Arctic Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. USC, in turn, with their outstanding experience, are well placed to address major challenges, including in developing the domestic oil and gas industry.
