The Gazprom Neft G-Drive Racing team makes a confident start to the Europe Le Mans (ELMS) series and the FIA World Endurance Championships (WEC)

Supported by the Gazprom Neft G-Drive premium fuels brand, Russia’s G-Drive Racing teams has made a successful start at this year’s Europe Le Mans (ELMS) and FIA World Endurance Championships (WEC), winning at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps and Italy’s Autodromo National Monza.

The 2018 season will see the G-Drive Racing team taking part in two endurance racing championships simultaneously — the FIA World Endurance Championships (WEC) and the Europe Le Mans Series (ELMS), with the company represented by two crews — the “combat” team (No. 26) comprising Roman Rusinov, Jean-Eric Verne and Andrea Pizzitola, and team No. 40 with James Allen, Enzo Gibber and Jose Gutierrez behind the wheel.

G-Drive Racing achieved their first success in the six-hour FIA WEC race at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium’s Ardennes. Having successfully completed qualification, their second-place starting position meant the No. 26 crew were able to compete for the lead before taking victory in the LMP2 class.

May 13th saw the second stage of the Europe Le Mans Series (ELMS) held at Italy’s Autodromo National Monza, where the No. 26 crew succeeded in pulling ahead confidently before finishing in first place. After their Italy win the team repeated their success in last year’s ELMS “Four Hours of Monza” race.

Alexander Krylov, Head of Gazprom Neft’s Regional Sales Directorate, and head of the G-Drive Racing initiative, commented: “We have, once again, demonstrated the genuine strength of the G-Drive Racing team. In Monza, as well as a week earlier in Spa-Francorchamps, our team performed perfectly. It was a tough battle, but we proved stronger. We have the best team, and the best fuel, with the G-Drive brand. We now have the ‘24 Hours of Le Mans’ awaiting us, and it is very important that we go into the main race of the year with a winning attitude.”

On the basis of the last two stages of the Europe Le Mans Series, the G-Drive team are now in pole position. The G-Drive Racing team’s next race will be the legendary “24 Hours of Le Mans” on 16–17 June.
