Gazprom Neft’s Management Board sums up the company’s activities in environmental and industrial safety

The statistics that were provided at the Management Board meeting testify to the successful completion of the planned programs. However, there are some worrying tendencies in a number of areas that demand special attention, not only from specialized services, but also from every company employee.

In 2008, there was not a single industrial accident recorded at the company’s plants. However, in comparison to 2007, the number of fires, traffic accidents and group accidents increased.

The emission of pollutants into the atmosphere in 2008 dropped insignificantly from 159 to 158 thousand tons and the volume of waste processing at deposits doubled. The recycling of associated petroleum gas increased in 2008 by 11%. Among projects that were launched, the Yuzhno-Priobsky field can be noted for the construction of a unique (for Russia) installation that pumps waste emissions into a reservoir. This installation enables drilling without producing surface drilling waste.

In 2009, the company plans to create a unified environmental management system and the company is preparing to introduce ISO14001 international standards.

Summing up the meeting, the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Gazprom Neft, Alexander Dyukov remarked that the company still had a large playing field for improving industrial and environmental safety and called on the managers of all subdivisions to be more responsible in meeting the corresponding standards and also to actively participate in the development of corporate standards in this field.
