Gazprom Neft Orenburg Board of Directors appointed Aleksey Ovechkin General Director of the company.
Aleksey Ovechkin, born in 1977, has a specialist degree in “Oil and Gas Fields Development”, Udmurtskiy State University.
In April 2009, he was appointed General Engineer of NIS Upstream. From November, 2010 he worked as NIS Deputy General Director for Exploration and Production.
Before 2009, Aleksey Ovechkin has worked at “TNK-Nyagan” companies and in different departments at ”Udmurtneft”.
In October 2011 Gazprom Neft purchased a controlling stake in ZAO Gazprom Neft Orenburg (61.8%), which holds the licence for the Eastern part of the Orenburg field. The remaining shares being also managed by Gazprom Neft belong to Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg. In autumn 2011, Gazprom Neft also purchased Tsarichanskoe and Kapitonovskoe fields in Orenburg region.
Having acquired the Eastern Part of the Orenburg Region and the adjacent sites Gazprom Neft plans to create a new resource base and start production in the region.
Gazprom Neft’s midterm plan is to create a new production area in Orenburg region and triple current output to around 5 million tonnes of oil equivalent annually within five years.
