G-Drive Racing team wins at Six Hours of Silverstone FIA World Endurance Championship

The G-Drive Racing team has opened this year’s motor-racing season with a fantastic victory at the first race of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship. On April 12, the British Silverstone track saw two cars from the Russian team (supported by the Gazprom Neft G-Drive premium fuels brand) take the first two places in the LMP2 class.

Qualifying rounds the day before saw the Russia cars (numbered 26 and 28) start in pole position in their class.

Both cars from the Drive Racing team held the lead for almost the entire course, yielding their positions only briefly at the start of the race. The no. 26 team — Roman Rusinov, Julien Canal and Sam Bird — won with a major lead on their rivals, with the no. 28 car taking second place.

“I am delighted to be back at the top of the podium for the Six Hours of Silverstone race! We have two cars running at the same time this season, which means not just double the chance of winning, but, also, double the responsibility for everyone. I could see the benefits of team work in the outcome of the first race — together, we are more than ready to battle it out for victory. This is going to be big help in the 2015 season, since the LMP2 class has by far the largest number of teams competing,” said Roman Rusinov.

Gazprom Neft Regional Sales Director Alexander Krylov commented: “G-Drive Racing’s first result for the 2015 season is encouraging, with the Russian team earning a double victory for the first time in the history of the championship. Having led the front of the grid we can’t wait for new challenges”.

Notes for editors

The Gazprom Neft G-Drive Racing initiative, directed at supporting motor racing in Russia, sponsors the G-Drive Racing team, competing in the LMP2 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Gazprom Neft filling station network totals approximately 1,370 filling stations throughout Russia and the CIS. The network’s extensive geographic range, coupled with the highly advantageous location of the company’s Omsk, Moscow and Yaroslavl refineries, continue to ensure Gazprom Neft’s leading position in the wholesale and retail markets of western Siberia and central Russia.

The new-generation G-Drive fuel is sold throughout the Gazprom Neft filling station network. The key advantages of this premium fuel, which contains an active complex of additives, include increased engine capacity (of up to 12 percent), better acceleration (of up to 1.8 seconds), and professional protection for engine fuel systems.
