G-Energy Team wins international Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2015 rally

Vladimir Vasiliyev and Konstantin Zhiltsov, competing (in the Mini All4 Racing car) as part of the Russian G-Energy Team (sponsored by Gazpromneft Lubricants) has won the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2015 — a major international rally, forming the second round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies. The sportsmen also delivered the best time across all races.

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is one of the longest-standing rally raids in the world, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. By tradition, this is one of the most demanding rounds in the World Cup, with a track of more than 1,000 kilometres, under extreme weather conditions.

G-Energy team captain Konstantin Zhiltsov commented: “This was a real challenge — the heat, searing wind, and treacherous dunes with hidden craters and traps. I’m glad we were able to complete the course in one piece — we were focussed on not making mistakes, on taking care of the car. We’re pleased with the result, we did alright, and all the equipment worked perfectly! Winning the World Cup in 2014, and getting fifth place at Dakar 2015 has given us great experience — which we’ve put to full use here.”

Gazpromneft Lubricants CEO Alexander Trukhan added: “This is, of course, not the first year that Gazpromneft Lubricants has supported the G-energy team; it’s lovely to see that, thanks to the use of cutting-edge G-Energy lubricants, the team have been able to deliver such great results. We place a very high value on cooperation in R&D with our teams, because the best endorsement of the quality of our products is the high value placed on these by the professionals themselves.”
