Dmitry Kobylkin, Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and Alexander Dybal, member of the Gazprom Neft management board, were in attendance at the recent official opening of a new multi-purpose sports complex in the Vyngapurovsky micro-district of Noyabrsk (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). The project marks the next stage in the fulfilment of Gazprom Neft’s “Home Towns” corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
The 3,500-square-metre “Vyngapurovsky” sports complex includes a sports hall and fitness room, a swimming pool, and a medical treatment room. The complex is fully adapted to accommodate any disability in sporting activities.
Alexander Dybal, member of the Gazprom Neft management board, commented: “Our company continues to develop sports facilities and infrastructure in Russia’s key region for our business — the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This new sports complex will see a radical improvement in opportunities for engaging in sport in the remote Vyngapurovsky micro-district, which has not, hitherto, had any modern sporting facilities. In 2017 we will, through our Home Towns CSR programme, be building complexes affiliated to the Avangard hockey academy, in Muravlenko and Labytnangi.”
Dmitry Kobylkin, Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, added: “The oil and gas sector is inextricably linked with the region’s development. The development of a good standard of living is a priority for both the local government and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug’s largest employer, Gazprom Neft. The new sports complex in Noyabrsk is a gift for the country’s northern inhabitants on what is, today, International Oil Workers’ Day. These facilities, built through an agreement between local government and the company, meet a genuine demand from local inhabitants, will promote healthy lifestyles, accessible to everyone striving to improve, including in sport at the highest level. It’s not surprising that the number of Yamal locals doing sports has increased manifold in recent years.”
The Gazprom Neft “Home Towns” project brings together the Gazprom Neft Group of Companies’ various CSR initiatives throughout Russia’s regions. The programme is directed at improving the socio-economic potential of these regions as well as at improving quality of life, and includes projects in neighbourhood enhancement, the development of children’s and public sports facilities, initiatives in education and health, and the wider preservation of the culture of the indigenous populations of Northern Russia.
