According to its 2017 year-end results, Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of the Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling business, has maintained its leadership of Russia’s aviation refuelling market in terms of direct sales, increasing “wing-tip” sales 19 percent year-on-year, to 2.4 million tonnes. Total sales of aviation fuels in 2017 were in excess of 3.3 million tonnes. The international reach of the company’s retail network has now increased to include 249 airports (the company having added a further 13 over the past year) in 63 countries. Today the company’s clients include more than 150 Russian and international airlines.
Gazpromneft-Aero last year concentrated on developing bilateral contracts with national fuel suppliers in countries hosting popular tourist destinations. For example, under an agreement with PTT Public Company Limited, sales volumes in Thailand increased
Gazpromneft-Aero’s long-term development envisages further investment in improving technological performance and business efficiency. Total investment in 2017 was in excess of RUB2 billion. The company continues to implement its “Digital Tank Farm” project, introducing automated management systems for technological processes and introducing online — accounting to monitor the movement of oil products at every stage of aviation refuelling — from receipt at the depot, through despatch from the plant, to “wing-tip” delivery. The company last year became the first of Russia’s aviation refuelling operators to begin the transition to automated invoicing and accounting for aviation fuel, in line with IATA standards.
