Gazprom Neft joins forces withe the MIR National Card Payment System to develop filling-station services

Gazprom Neft has signed an agreement with the National Payment Card System (“NSPK”), owners of the “Mir” card payment system, on collaborating in increasing the use of national card-payment services throughout the company’s filling station network. The document was signed at this year’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum by Alexander Dyukov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board, Gazprom Neft, and Vladimir Komlev, CEO, National Payment Card System.

The agreement envisages the parties’ active engagement in creating and developing joint programmes to promote cash-free payments using the Mir payment card at stations throughout the Gazpromneft filling station network, as well as through the AZC.GO mobile app. In addition to this, the partners also plan to integrate “faster payments systems (FPS)” as a new payment tool throughout filling stations and on the AZC.GO app. The Mir mobile app will also be enhanced with a service allowing online payments for goods and services at Gazpromneft filling stations.

Every other purchase at the company’s automatic filling stations is made using bank cards or service cards. Collaborating with the Mir national payments system will not only increase the proportion of cash-free payments at filling stations, but also offer our clients further — convenient — services.”

Filling stations are among the top five goods and services that Russians pay for using the Mir card. So it is very important to us to make the process of paying for fuel as convenient and profitable as possible for our customers.”

The Gazprom Neft filling station network totals approximately 1,400 filling stations throughout Russia and the CIS. The network’s extensive geographic range, coupled with the highly advantageous locations of the company’s Omsk, Moscow and Yaroslavl refineries, continue to ensure Gazprom Neft’s leading position in the wholesale and retail markets of western Siberia and central Russia.

AZC.GO is the Gazpromneft filling station network’s mobile payments app. Using the app can cut motorists’ filling-up times by as much as half. Gazpromneft filling station clients have downloaded the AZC.GO app more than 120,000 times since its initial launch in December 2018.

The “Mir” payments system is Russia’s national payments facility, with 311 participating banks, practically all of whom already accept and process Mir cards throughout their device networks. More than 160 banks issue Mir cards, of which more than 59 million are currently in circulation. Mir cards are accepted abroad through co-badging programmes with international payment systems including Mir-Maestro, Mir-UnionPay and Mir-JCB.
