Gazprom Neft’s five-millionth tonne of aviation fuel used in refuelling at Sheremetyevo

Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of the Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling business, has sold its five-millionth tonne of aviation fuel since starting operations at Sheremetyevo International Airport in 2012 — this landmark refuelling being for an Aeroflot flight to Phuket, Thailand.

Gazpromneft-Areo has built a high-tech refuelling complex at Sheremetyevo to refuel scheduled, charter and private flights, with the company’s refuelling complex having been awarded the International Aviation Transport Association’s (IATA’s) highest quality status for aviation refuelling in 2013. The Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling complex has been responsible for refuelling more than 300,000 flights by 65 Russian and international airlines over the past seven years.

The Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling complex at Sheremetyevo is one of the most modern such complexes in Russia and Eastern Europe, providing a platform for testing and implementing best practices in digitisation and technologies in air transportation. It is home to the company’s “Digital Refuelling Complex” project, introducing automated process control systems and online accounting of oil products throughout the logistics chain — from receipt of fuel deliveries to wing-tip refuelling: work is also ongoing on the commercial application of a robotized fuel-loading system for airfield tankers. Investment in developing the refuelling complex between 2018 and 2022 will reach more than half a billion rubles (RUB500,000,000).

Vladimir Egorov, CEO, Gazpromneft-Aero, commented: “The international airport at Sheremetyevo is a key transport hub in Moscow’s aviation network, and Russia’s most important passenger airport. This airport receives about a thousand airliners every day, a third of which are refuelled by Gazprom Neft. This confirms the strategic role our refuelling complex plays in both the work of the airport itself, and in the development of the company’s aviation business, as a whole.”
