The Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre, the Akademgorodok TechnoPark and Novosibirsk State University will cooperate in science and technology (R&D), design and engineering, and training, including, in particular, collective involvement in developing knowledge-driven innovative technologies, which is expected to involve holding various seminars, conferences and symposia involving leading Russian and international partners.

Mars Khasanov, Director of Technology, Gazprom Neft and CEO of the company’s Science and Technology Sector, commented: “Continuous technological development demands involving as many intellectual resources as possible from the innovative environment surrounding our company. Which is precisely why Gazprom Neft is cooperating with leading Russian and international scientific and educational centres in implementing high-technology projects — with the company, today, having more than 30 academic partners in of Russia’s regions, as well as having almost 10 masters programmes in place, in addition to faculties providing conversion courses and training in the key sciences. Partnership of this kind allows us to implement the most ambitious tasks, effectively combining the potential of the key sciences with business needs.”

Vladimir Nikonov, Director of the Akademgorodok TechnoPark, stressed: “This agreement with the Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre has a sound practical basis. A number of the companies in residence at Academpark are already collaborating with businesses in the oil and gas sector, and have successful experience in implementing developments. This agreement opens up new opportunities for technology companies in Novosibirsk for implementing open innovations — that is, ready-made industry solutions and products from innovation teams, as well as ‘bespoke’ innovations, in which the skills and competencies of our resident companies are used to address the specific tasks or needs of an industrial partner. It’s important that the signed document includes specific plans for joint work by all parties.”

The Gazprom Neft Scientific and Research Centre (NTC)

The key areas of activity at the Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre (NTC) are the development of new technologies in oil production, engineering and the expert evaluation of hydrocarbon exploration and production projects; design, analysis and monitoring of oilfield development and geological exploration activities; geological and hydrodynamic simulation; and engineering support and the operational supervision of drilling operations. The Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre is the only such facility in Russia combining scientific research, the development of oil production technologies, and the remote control and management of high-tech production processes. The NTC includes a unique “GeoNavigator” Drilling Control Centre through which, supported by modern technologies and equipment, the company remotely controls drilling operations at all of its high-technology wells in Russia and abroad.

*Novosibirsk State University is the only classical higher educational establishment in Russia, and one of the leading national research universities, forming part of the scientific and educational complex of the Novosibirsk Oblast. The total student population numbers 7,000, including more than 1,400 international students. Novosibirsk State University is orientated towards training in science, education and high-tech industries. The university’s strengths, traditionally, lie in elementary particle physics and astrophysics, photonics and quantum optics, geological research, new methods and treatments (medicines) in managing cancer, low-dimensional hybrid and nanomaterials, genomic technologies, archaeology, and cryptography. The university stands among the 100 best universities in the world in physics (QS University Rankings by Subject: Physics & Astronomy).

**The Novosibirsk Akademgorodok Technopark (Academpark) is an integrated technology park with specialist research, technology and business infrastructure, creating an ideal environment for the development of innovative start-ups and existing innovative businesses — a place in which R&D is turned into industrial technologies. Its activities include instrumentation and research-intensive equipment, IT and telecommunications, biotechnologies and biomedicine, and new materials and nanotechnologies. Academpark is among the top-rated techno-parks in Russia, and one of the first regional operators of the country’s SKOLKOVO Institute of Science and Technology. Academpark has more than 350 companies in residence, and more than 9,8000 personnel, with a total annual turnover of RUB25.9 billion.
