Gazprom Neft to support Silk Way off-road rally-raid race

Gazprom Neft is involved in a number of partnership projects as part of the famous Silk Way marathon off-road rally, this year taking place for the first time along a unique route uniting the capitals of Russia, Kazakhstan and China.

Gazprom Neft G-Drive fuel, sold through the Gazprom Neft filling station network, has been made the official fuel for this event, with the company’s G-Energy lubricants supporting the G-Energy team of Vladimir Vasilev and Konstantin Zhiltsov, as well as the MAZ-SPORTavto team. Specialist tests on the performance of Gazprom Neft lubricants in high-performance vehicles will also be undertaken during races.

The sixth Silk Way rally marathon is taking place over July 8 — 24, 2016, with the official start point set in Moscow’s Red Square, with Orga-category participants refuelling at the Gazprom Neft station on Kutuzovsky Prospect the day before. The official start also saw demonstrations in fuel-quality testing undertaken by the Gazprom Neft filling station network mobile laboratory (used in fuel-quality testing at the company’s filling stations throughout Russia and Kazakhstan) at the new service facility at the Luzhniki sports complex.

Gazprom Neft supports a range of major initiatives promoting the development of motor sports, with the G-Drive Racing Team, supported by new-generation G-Drive fuels, a successful participant in FIA WEC international endurance rallies. Gazpromneft Lubricants, operator of the Gazprom Neft lubricants business, undertakes regular testing of G-Energy motor oils under the demanding conditions typical of rally raids in partnership with the G-Energy and MAZ-SPORTavto teams. Supported by a mobile laboratory, engineers undertake immediate analysis of selected samples on a daily basis to supplement statistical research data supporting the modernisation and further improvement of the company’s products.

Notes for editors

New-generation G-Drive fuels are sold throughout the Gazprom Neft filling station network. The key advantage of these premium fuels, which contain an active complex of additives, include increased engine capacity (of up to 12 percent), better acceleration (of up to 1.8 seconds), and professional protection for engine fuel systems.

G-Energy is the premium motor oils brand from Gazprom Neft, designed for the most up-to-the-minute American-, European- and Japanese-produced cars. The unique adaptive (ACF) technology used in G-Energy oils enhances essential performance features in line with engine operation at a specific point in time, through the appropriate activation of necessary additives. Gazpromneft Lubricants — operator of the Gazprom Neft lubricants business — has been General Partner of the Russian Rally-raid Championship and Russian Cup since 2014. In 2013 the company became the first on the Russian market to develop and launch a new, special-purpose G-Energy product line of 100-percent synthetic engine oils, G-Energy Racing, specifically developed for professional racing vehicles and today’s racing circuits. G-Energy Racing oils provide maximum protection against engine wear, and provide highly effective protection of engine parts against deposit accumulation, maintaining performance even under the peak loads typical of racing conditions.

The Silk Way Rally is an international off-road “rally-raid” race, held in Russia and the countries of Central and East Asia since 2009. With the original route, in its first year, having covered Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, the 2016 rally is taking place across three countries — Russia, Kazakhstan, and China — covering a total length of 10,735 kilometres — 4,105 kilometres of which covers established racing circuits.
