Gazprom Neft expands its activities in Yamal

Gazprom Neft has won the licensing round for subsoil usage rights to the Khambateisky license block. This asset, covering 340 square kilometres, is located in the Yamalsky District in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and includes the Khambateiskoye gas condensate field.

The license for hydrocarbon exploration, prospecting and production rights to the Khambateiskoye block (a block of federal significance) has been issued for a period of 30 years.* According to State Mineral Reserves Register data, recoverable reserves stand at 34 billion cubic metres (bcf) of gas and 2.6 million tonnes of gas condensate, with resources ready for exploratory drilling estimated at 247 bcf of gas and 20 million tonnes of condensate.

Gazprom Neft will continue its investigations at the Khambateisky block. Geological prospecting works on finetuning the existing model, including key productive strata and the field’s key production features, will be undertaken throughout this area until 2022. Production at the new license block is scheduled to start in 2026.

“The Khambateisky block will form part of the Yamal cluster, which has the Novoportovskoye field at its core. Developing this new asset will make a significant contribution to the long-term loading of existing company oil and gas infrastructure currently in construction in the south of Yamal.”
