Gazprom Neft will again be supplying high-tech fuel and lubricants to participating teams on the 2021 international Silk Way Rally. The company’s filling station network is the marathon-rally’s official fuel partner, and its G-Energy brand the official technical partner.
Gazprom Neft tankers, carrying G-Drive 100 gasoline and high-tech OPTI diesel fuel, will be escorting teams along the Russian leg of the rally, from Omsk to Gorno-Altaisk. Retro-fitted refuelling modules attached to tankers will be servicing vehicles at scheduled stops throughout. The Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery has produced more than 300,000 litres of fuel to service this days-long marathon, subjecting this gasoline and diesel to extensive quality control checks at accredited Gazprom Neft laboratories before despatching it for the Silk Way route.
MAZ-SPORT AUTO trucks will be protected throughout the length of the rally by G-Profi and G-Energy lubricants produced at the company’s Omsk Lubricants plant. A G-Energy mobile laboratory will also be available to participating rally teams to help in predicting potential problems, with Gazprom Neft specialists providing fast and accurate engine diagnostics based on oil samples — rapid assessment of equipment condition and status following special stages of the marathon rally allowing early detection and prevention of technical problems.
Representatives from the MAZ-SPORT AUTO racing team visited the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery and Lubricants Plant ahead of the rally starting, taking part in a symbolic ceremony and producing diesel and lubricants specifically for the event.
“For the first time in the rally’s history, Silk Way participants will set off from Omsk before covering more than 5,000 kilometres off-road and desert terrain. Race vehicles will be operating under extreme conditions, throughout this time. Much depends on fuel and lubricants’ quality and technical capabilities under conditions like these. Gazprom Neft’s specialists’ longstanding expertise, gained on the most challenging marathon rallies around the world, coupled with Gazprom Neft’s technologically advanced Omsk facilities, is driving the development and production of high-quality products that work equally well on both sports cars and service vehicles.”Anatoly Cherner Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Gazprom Neft
The Gazprom Neft filling station network will also be running an environmental campaign throughout the Russian leg of the rally, collecting and recycling participating teams’ bald tyres, with the crumb rubber from these being used to provide safe surface coverings for sports facilities and children’s playgrounds.
The Silk Way Rally, one of the toughest races on the planet, takes place every year, starting in various regions of Russia, and finishing in the East — in China or Mongolia. This year’s rally started in Omsk, on 1 July, with the Russsian leg running through Novosibirsk and Gorno-Altaisk, and ending in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator. Silk Way marathon rally participants cover 5,500 kilometres, over 10 days. The rally was awarded FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup status for the first time in 2021.
The Gazprom Neft filling station network totals approximately 1594 filling stations throughout Russia and the CIS. The network’s extensive geographic range, coupled with the highly advantageous location of the company’s Omsk, Moscow and Yaroslavl refineries, continue to ensure Gazprom Neft’s leading position in the wholesale and retail markets of western Siberia and central Russia.
The G-energy product line is an innovative brand, offering a wide range of advanced lubricants for passenger and commercial vehicles.
