Gazprom Neft’s Omsk Refinery improves environmental friendliness in producing high-performance fuel

Gazprom Neft’s Omsk Refinery has completed work on upgrading its catalytic reforming unit, with pre-commissioning tests now underway. Modernising the facility will allow the Omsk Refinery to increase production of high-octane gasoline, as well as further reducing environmental impacts during production. Gazprom Neft’s investment in this project stands at ₽9.8 billion. Works have been undertaken as part of the federal government’s integrated “Clean Air” project, and form an important part of the Omsk Refinery’s development programme, ongoing since 2008.

Cutting-edge equipment has delivered a 50% increase in annual capacity at the upgraded facility. Environmentally protective technologies mean the unit will operate on environmentally friendly natural gas, further reducing environmental impacts and improving energy efficiency. A new digital control system, comprising 4,000 “smart” sensors, has been installed to monitor production, including environmental metrics.

“Modernising the Omsk Refinery’s catalytic reforming unit will not only ensure better energy efficiency, but will also improve environmental friendliness in production. Caring for the environment is one of the Omsk Refinery’s priorities in implementing its integrated plant-development programme, and we adhere to this principle in implementing every upgrading project, without exception.”
