Gazprom Neft strengthens its cooperation with the Orenburg Oblast

Gazprom Neft has signed an agreement with the Orenburg Oblast on social and economic cooperation throughout 2021 — this document having been signed by Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov and Orenburg Oblast Governor Denis Pasler.

Gazprom Neft will, this year, be supporting local social projects, sports, and educational and cultural programmes in the Oblast’s Orenburg, Novosergievsky, Perevolotsky and Orenburgsky districts. Renovation of local rural facilities and public spaces, as well as organisation of children’s festivals, will continue, with the company’s involvement. The agreement also provides for assistance to municipal agencies.

This new document complements the three-year agreement entered into in 2020 outlining commitments between Gazprom Neft and the Government of the Orenburg Oblast on cooperating in implementing investment and social projects, as well as working together on deploying innovations in upstream operations and improving environmental friendliness in production.

Gazprom Neft has a 10-year history of cooperation with the Orenburg Oblast, during which time it has financed the construction of 14 children’s playgrounds and 10 multi-functional sports facilities in settlements and villages in the Novosergievsky, Perevolotsky and Orenburgsky districts. The company has also undertaken capital refurbishment and re-equipping of facilities at 26 schools and kindergartens, 12 cultural centres, and two libraries.

The Orenburg Oblast is one of the most important regions in Gazprom Neft’s “Home Towns” corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, the key objective of which is to improve living standards by developing social infrastructure and supporting sport, education and health.

“2021 marks the 10th anniversary of our launching major Gazprom Neft projects in the Orenburg Oblast. In that time the Oblast has become not only an important region for us, but also a centre for developing new technologies. We are driving innovation in drilling, environmental monitoring and digital production controls. Developing and improving the quality of the social environment for local residents in the Orenburg Oblast is front of mind for Gazprom Neft. In the space of a few years we have built, refurbished and improved more than 160 schools, kindergartens, cultural centres and other social infrastructure facilities in the Orenburg Oblast. And, through our Home Towns grant-award competition, we have supported more than 180 initiatives put forward by local Orenburg residents themselves. The new agreement will allow us to continue this ongoing work.”

“The company has proved a reliable partner to the region in implementing important social and investment projects over the past 10 years. Gazprom Neft provided assistance in buying medical equipment, PPE and medicines for medical facilities in the region under the COVID pandemic of 2020. A 32-slice CT scanner was purchased for the Oblast’s infectious diseases hospital, as well as liquid oxygen and anti-virals. Oxygen concentrator compressors — vital to patients suffering from respiratory failure — were purchased for the Novosergievskaya local hospital. Cutting-edge bacterial air sanitisers were purchased for the Perevolotsk Central District Hospital, and for educational institutions in the region. We will be continuing our cooperation this year.”

Notes for editors

Gazprom Neft plays major role in the development of the Orenburg Oblast, being a major taxpayer and employer.

Gazprom Neft has built outdoor sports facilities and children’s recreational complexes as part of its “Home Towns” corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme in the Orenburg Oblast, as well as refurbishing cultural and educational facilities and housing for large families.

Gazprom Neft’s grant award competition for socially impactful projects is a further tool in developing the region. This award is directed at supporting initiatives from local Orenburg residents to improve living standards for local people, as well as at developing non-profit and municipal organisations. Seven Gazprom Neft grant competitions were held in the Orenburg Oblast between 2013 and 2019, supporting a total 182 social projects.
