Gazpromneft-Aero increases direct sales of aviation fuels by 20 percent in 2014

Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of Gazprom Neft’s aviation business, has confirmed its status as Russia’s market-leading company in terms of “wing-tip” refuelling volumes, which have now exceeded 2.6 million tonnes, up 20 percent in comparison with 2013. Total sales of aviation fuels in 2014 are up 11 percent, to 3.7 million tonnes.

The number of air carriers partnering with Gazpromneft-Aero reached 122 in 2014, with the company’s geographical range increasing to 200 airports in Russia and worldwide. The company currently manages the most significant directly owned sales network among Russian aviation fuel suppliers, totalling 39 refuelling complexes throughout Russia, as well as one in Kyrgyzstan.

Gazpromneft-Aero continues to expand its business at airports throughout Siberia, traversed by the main trans-Siberian air corridors between Europe and Asia. Gazpromneft-Aero last year acquired a 50-percent holding in the refuelling complex at Omsk airport, at which the renewal of facilities and the installation of new equipment for quality testing has now begun.

Sales of aviation fuels abroad totalled 290,000 tonnes in 2014, 32 percent up on 2013 results: achieved through developing partnerships with major suppliers on local markets. Last year also saw Gazpromneft-Aero enter into an agreement with aviation fuel sales world leader Shell Aviation, envisaging the refuelling of Gazpromneft-Aero partner carriers at airports hosting Shell refuelling facilities: something that now gives Gazpromneft-Aero access to the full Shell Aviation refuelling network, worldwide.

Gazpromneft-Aero CEO Vladimir Yegorov commented: “We invested around RUB 8 billion in developing refuelling infrastructure at our own airports in 2014, three times as much as in 2013. This year will see the continued modernisation of our Russian refuelling complexes, with international best practice and the highest international standards implemented throughout these. We also intend to further expand the number of aviation partners we work with, both in Russia and abroad. Longer term, we also plan to heighten our competitive advantage, both in terms of the extent of our sales network, and in terms of our service standards, allowing us to become a world leader in aviation refuelling. We are grateful to all of our partners for the successful operations we have seen over the past year, and have every confidence that our cooperation will see further dynamic development throughout 2015.”
