Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz has produced its millionth tonne of oil at the Otdalennaya group of fields

Gazpromnneft-Noyabrskneftegaz has obtained its millionth tonne of oil at the Otdalennaya group of fields.

Most of this production has occurred at two multiple-well cluster pads at the Zapadno-Chatylkinskoe field, construction of which was started in 2018, with the eight production wells here delivering an average 350 million tonnes of virtually water-free oil every day. A further six horizontal-directional wells are expected to be brought into operation at these blocks this year, with production expected to exceed 3,000 tonnes of hydrocarbons per day.

The design and construction of production infrastructure is currently ongoing at the Otdalennaya group of fields, including facilities necessary to achieve 95-percent utilisation of associated petroleum gas (APG).

Three of the group’s six fields are currently under active development — the Kholmistoe, Chatylkinskoe and Zapadno-Chatylkinskoe fields. The Ravninny license block is expected to go into production in early 2021, with geological prospecting currently ongoing at the Vorgensky and Yuzhno-Udmurtsky blocks.

The Otdalennaya group of fields are expected to reach peak production, of 1.7 million tonnes of oil equivalent (mtoe) per year, as soon as 2023. Eighty eight wells are expected to be drilled up to 2025, of which 46 will be horizontal wells, 26 directional injection wells, and 16 water-intake wells.

Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz CEO Alexander Shushakov commented: “Development of this project is non-linear, the team having a range of options for the further development of this area at its disposal, depending on market conditions, geology and demand for energy resources. Proactive risk management, accounting, and prediction of external factors mean the business can, already, produce raw hydrocarbons at the Otdalennaya group of fields on a viable basis, putting in place the infrastructure necessary for the subsequent expansion of its resource base in the south of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.”

Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz is one Gazprom Neft’s key production assets and the most important oil producer in Yamal. Noyabrskneftegaz has 36 oil fields in operation, located within the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs.

The Otdalennaya group of fields is one of the most promising development projects, and among the top-listed upstream exploration projects at Gazprom Neft. The Otdalennaya group of fields brings various company assets — the Ravninnoe, Kholmistoe, Yuzhno-Udmurtskoe, Chatylkinskoe, Vorgenskoe and Zapadno-Chatylkinskoe fields, located in the Krasnoselkupsky district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, together in a single cluster. Sixty nine exploratory and 119 production wells have been drilled within the Otdalennaya group of fields.
