Installation of major facilities completed at Yuzhno-Priobskiy gas processing plant

The Yuzhno-Priobskiy gas processing plant (Yuzhno-Priobskiy GPP), currently being constructed in the southern license area of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region’s Priobskoye field, has recently seen the completed installation of major facilities, including a turbo-compressor unit and a turbo-expander (expansion turbine). Pre-commissioning activities at the plant are planned for June 2015, with initial test processing of associated petroleum gas (APG) planned for the third quarter.

Concurrently with construction of the gas processing plant, reconstruction of a pipeline for the supply of dry-stripped gas, connecting to the Khanty-Mansiysk Natural Gas Supply pipeline, is also being carried out. This will allow gas to be supplied to both the gas-turbine power plant at the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field (for power generation), as well as meeting the domestic needs of the local population in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, and the Khanty-Mansiysk district. Infrastructure is also being put in place to facilitate the transportation of natural gas liquids (NGL)** — one of the products received at the gas processing plant — to the SIBUR industrial facilities at Tobolsk. All supporting infrastructure is expected to be ready before the gas processing plant is commissioned.

The Yuzhno-Priobskiy GPP is being built on the site of the compressor station of the same name, built in 2013. Total capacity at the new plant will allow the processing of 900 million cubic metres of APG per year, generating approximately 340,000 tonnes of NGL and 750 million cubic metres of dry-stripped gas.

Notes for editors

Construction of the Yuzhno-Priobskiy GPP is being undertaken by a joint enterprise between Gazpromneft-Khantos and SiburTyumenGaz — OOO Yuzhno-Priobskiy GPP, owner of the Yuzhno-Priobskaya compressor station.

APG utilisation at Gazprom Neft reached 81 percent in 2014, consistent with the industry average. Total investment by Gazprom Neft in infrastructure development for APG utilisation amounted to RUB6.3 billion in 2014. Projects implemented by Gazprom Neft to date will allow the company to further improve APG utilisation, with the company expected to achieve utilisation levels of 90 percent within two years.

*Dry-stripped gas is a product obtained through the processing of petroleum gas. Dry-stripped gas can be used as a raw material in meeting domestic and industrial needs.

**Natural gas liquids (NGL) are the product of the refining of petroleum gas and gas condensate. Natural gas liquids (NGL) are obtained as a result of separating associated petroleum gas at a GPP. In addition to this, dry-stripped gas and natural gasoline are also produced. Natural gas liquids (NGL) are the main raw material used by petrochemical plants in producing a wide range of goods, including rubber, plastics, ethanol, solvents, and high-octane gasoline components.
