For the third time Gazpromneft Lubricants is to support MAZ-SPORTavto in its participation in the world’s most prestigious off-road rally — the Dakar.
The Dakar-2017 rally begins on 2 January 2017 in the Paraguayan capital of Asunción, running through Bolivia and Argentina to finish on 14 January in Buenos Aires — a total distance of more than 9,000 kilometres.
Six MAZ vehicles will be at the start — three trucks taking part in the race, together with three support cars, all of them using G-Energy lubricants. A group of technical specialists from Gazpromneft Lubricants will be travelling with the team to South America in order to monitor product usage and undertake direct testing during the race.
«The Dakar rally is, for us, a global laboratory, allowing us to test lubricants under extreme conditions. This time, in addition to the usual infra-red spectrometer, our engineers will be taking a new device — an
x-rayspectrometer, which measures the concentration of metals in lubricants, and the concentration of sulphur in diesel. Equipment like this allows us to undertake thoroughgoing investigations, literally under off-road conditions, on which basis the team’s technicians can make the necessary adjustments in servicing the cars. A key feature of the Dakar rally will be those stages running through the high altitudes of Bolivia. Engines operate at maximum load under the lower oxygen of high altitudes, which will be a further test for G-Energy service fluids and lubricants».Alexander Trukhan CEO, Gazpromneft Lubricants
