CJSC Northgas has announced the commissioning of the East Dome of North Urengoy field.
As of now, eighteen production wells have been drilled at the East Dome. The East Dome’s infrastructure also includes a gas treatment unit with a capacity of 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year, gas gathering networks, a gas pipeline and condensate pipeline that lead to the West Dome.
The launch of the East Dome will raise production at North Urengoy field to its design level in 2014, exceeding 10 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.4 million tons of gas condensate.
“The gas treatment unit launched in October 2013 is expected to enable the company to double its gas and condensate production as early as November this year. The new gas treatment unit has laid the basis to reach the peak gas production level,” commented Denis Sugaipov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CJSC Northgas and head of the Gazprom Neft Major Projects Directorate.
The gas condensate produced at the fields is shipped for processing to the Purovsky Condensate Processing Plant, while the gas goes to the gas export pipeline.
The proven reserves at North Urengoy field per SEC standards as of the end of 2012 amounted to 157.3 billion cubic meters of gas and 21.1 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons. North Urengoy field’s hydrocarbon deposits are concentrated in two domes, the West Dome and the East Dome. The West Dome has been commercially producing since 2001. Over the first nine months of 2013, 2.90 billion cubic meters of commercial-grade gas and 290,000 tons of gas condensate have been produced at the field.
