The Omsk Yastreby [“Hawks”] has won the Minor Hockey League (MHL) championship title for the second time in a row. The Yastreby is the junior team of the Avangard hockey club , of which JSC Gazprom Neft is a co-owner. This is the first time a team has twice won the Kharlamov Cup, the main MHL trophy. In the finals, the Yastreby defeated the Moscow Spartak Youth Hockey Team in an extremely difficult series of seven games.
“The level of mastery that the Yastreby demonstrated during the regular championship and playoff games and the dedication that went so far as to win the trophy for them today show that the Omsk club has laid a reliable foundation for development, and therefore we can confidently speak of great victories at the highest level in the future. The second Kharlamov Cup won by the Yastreby shows that our social investment in the development of children’s and youth sports is bearing fruit,” said Alexander Dyukov, Gazprom Neft Chairman of the Executive Board.
