Russia’s biggest graffiti festival – Stenograffia-2016 – kicks off with support from Gazprom Neft

The seventh “Stenograffia” street-art and graffiti festival, supported by Gazprom Neft through its “HomeTowns” corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, will again take place throughout those regions in which the company operates. The festival kicks off with the announcement of a Russia-wide open competition for sketches by street artists.

Key themes in this year’s competition include folk tales from around the world and — in the build-up to Russia hosting the 2018 World Cup — football. In addition to which, artists, traditionally, have the opportunity to submit sketches under an open category. Winners will then have the opportunity to see their work decorating city spaces in Ekaterinburg, Orenburg, Noyabrsk, Muravlenko, Khanty-Mansiysk and the settlements of Novoportovskoye and Cape Kammeny, Yamal.

“Stenograffia” is an annual street-art event, bringing together leading graffiti and street artists in Russia and worldwide. The festival was first held in Ekaterniburg in 2010. The festival has, over the years, seen dozens of street-art installations and artworks created which have since become well known not just throughout Russia but also abroad, subsequently included in major catalogues of street art. Sponsorship from Gazprom Neft under the company’s “HomeTowns” CSR programme has taken the festival to a whole new level, with the number of competitive submissions increasing, together with significant growth in the number (and range) of participants.

Alexander Dybal, member of the Management Board, Gazprom Neft commented: “Supporting a Russia-wide street-art festival quite unprecedented in its reach is a major part of our CSR programme. In bringing together the country’s professional artists, creative communities and local residents we are giving an additional boost to good and sustainable neighbourhood enhancement in those regions in which we operate. And Stenograffia-2016 promises to be another opportunity for brightening our urban landscape.”
