Russian G-Drive Racing team wins Shanghai 6 Hours Race

The Russian G-Drive Racing team, supported by Gazprom Neft’s premium G-Drive fuel brand, won the 7th stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Shanghai 6 Hours race on 9 November. Having won qualification on the previous day G-Drive Racing started from pole position and logged 177 circles and 5.5 km at an average speed of 168.6 km/h. Shanghai International Circuit where the Shanghai 6 Hours race took place was designed by German architect Hermann Tilke in the shape of the Chinese hieroglyphic Shan from which the name of the city derives. The circuit is thought to be one of the toughest in the world.

The G-Drive Racing team flies the Russian flag in the WEC championship and drives an Oreca 03 — Nissan No 26 in LMP2 category. Roman Rusinov, who heads the crew, is many times winner of international races, prototypes and junior formulas. His partners are John Martin of Australia, four-time winner of the 2012 season, and Mike Conway of the UK, the British Formula-3 champion.

„The Shanghai race was crucial for the Russian team. With the first place under its belt G-Drive Racing has a chance not just to end the season decently, but to win the World Endurance Championship. I am glad that the G-Drive fuel, being tested in the race series, is improving its characteristics with each new race, helping the team to upgrade its performance,” said Alexander Krylov, Director, Regional Sales, Gazprom Neft and head of the G-Drive Racing project.

The final stage of the World Endurance Championship, 6 Hours of Bahrain, is scheduled for November 30.
